Body polish is a term that is used to describe the process of removing the layers of dead skin that have built up and also the products that are used for this purpose. Body polishes are the scrubs that have a creamy base ands are use to exfoliate very dry skin to oily skin; the scrubbing granules are very big and offer an improved scrubbing action that is much stronger than the typical face scrubs that are commercially available. This is what makes body polishes the ideal choice in body scrubs;

Consider the type of skin that you have:

The kind of skin polish that you use will depend on you skin type. This will make your skin more hydrated and will reduce the amount of acne and rashes. For dry skin, any polish that has brown sugar as a base is best as it has hydrating and moisturising properties.

Look forgeranium, sandalwood and rose aroma oils as they have anti bacterial agents that will help your skin heal. Those who have sensitive skin should use soothing and gentle polishes, that contain shea butter, lavender aroma oils or chamomile as they have a calming effect on the skin.

Polishes that contain sea salts are ideal for oily skin as it exfoliates while killing the acne causing bacteria; look for polishes that contain potassium, sodium, calcium and chloride as they add glow making the skin look healthy. Sugar, nut shells, coffee grounds and rice bran are perfect for normal skin; they can also be combined with massage oils like grape seed, avocado and sesame.

Make your own at home:

You can use cream, yogurt milk or oatmeal scrub as polish treatments these are things that can be easily bought at any market. You can also use fruit pulp like pine apple or papaya mashed with rose petals as they contain acids that detoxify and cleanse the skin. Mix together three table spoons of olive oil and brown sugar each followed by one tea spoon of oatmeal flakes, mix these well and apply in a circular motion slowly and rinse with luke warm water.

If you have oily skin, you can blend together three table spoons of fine sea salt, half a cup of honey and then add ten drops of tea tree oil and two table spoons of aloe vera gel. Mix well and apply to the skin for ten minutes and massage in circular motions before rinsing off.
