Nail tips: Removing yellow stains

Getting rid of yellow nails is significant not just because it makes your hand and feet presentable and fresh but also for personal hygiene. Our hands and legs do a lot of work throughout the day and a lot of dirt and pollution clings to it. Another reason for paleness of nails can be due to prolonged application of nail polish without allowing them to breathe. Drinking less water or smoking can also lead to yellow nails. You should always use a good quality of nail paint to avoid staining of your nails. Here are certain tips that can be useful in removing the yellow stains from your nails. Most of the products used for the purpose can be found in home.

Herbal methods:

1. In case the stains are less stubborn then they will go by rubbing a slice of potato for around five minutes. Stronger stain may take a little longer.

2. Pour in some lemon juice in a bowl and put the stained nails in it. You can also move lemon slices over your stained nails with pressure, in case you do not want to follow the first option. This will also keep your skin contact with lemon the least.

3. Pour some vinegar into a bowl and put into the liquid to absorb some of it. Let your nails be in this solution for some time and then scrub with a nail brush. Rinse off the remains of vinegar with water after you are done.

4. Mix one tablespoon of salt with two tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil and make a paste out of it. Now scrub the stained nails with this mixture. Wash off the scrub with water after a few minutes.

Chemical methods:

1. Take a teeth whitening paste and apply it on the nails. Apply it for four to five minutes and then rinse it off with water.

2. Pour half cup of hydrogen peroxide and half cup water in a bowl. Submerge your nails in this solution for some time and then wash with fresh water.

3. Pour little amount of dish washing liquid in a bowl of water. Immerse your nails briefly into a liquid in it for approximately ten minutes. Take a terry cloth and scrub the nails gently. Further, scrub the nails with a nail brush. If there is still some paleness, put a cotton ball into hydrogen peroxide to absorb some of it and wipe cleanse the nails.

4. Mix one part of bleach in ten parts of water and dip your nails into it. Scrub later and then wash with water. Most nail technician courses in Ontario recommend the above techniques.

It is always good to apply moisturizer on the nails and hand after such treatments because in the process it looses moisture. Remember the treatments mentioned above have bleaching agent in them, so they will definitely cause dehydration.
