1. Normal hair
a. The hair looks more shiny when washed.
b. It gives a good look when styled.
c. This type of hair requires more conditioners at the end.
d. The scalp looks normal and healthy.
e. Use wide toothed comb for wet hair and brush it from end to the roots.
2. Oily hair
a. The hair looks oily because the sebum is secreted in excess. This occurs normally during hormonal periods like puberty, pregnancy or due to over exercise or sun exposure or due to the usage of certain products. Such a hair gives a heavy look but it will lack in volume of hair.
b. For oily hair, you can use a special cleanser to shampoo your hair. Avoid using conditioners on oily hair. But if in case your hair is dry at the ends being oily at the scalp alone, then use conditioners only at the ends.
c. Use only wide toothed combs and brush it from the end up to the roots.
d. Do not use hot water, instead use Luke warm water as using hot water could lead to the secretion of excess of sebum.
e. Excessive brushing also leads to secretion of excess of sebum.
f. As far as diet is concerned, avoid fried, oily foods and dairy products. Eat more of fresh vegetables and fruits.
3. Dry hair
a. The hair looks dry because the sebaceous glands do not produce enough sebum, to moisturize and cover your hair and also preventing the water to evaporate.
b. Hair also becomes dry when you use hair dyes or hair straightening tools that uses heat to style your hair. This is because the excess of heat that is supplied to your hair from those tools dries your scalp and as well dries the sebum produced thus leaving your hair to look dry.
c. The hair also becomes dry with age. As you turn gray, the sebum secretion reduces and makes your hair dry.
d. Excess of sun exposure or washing your hair with chlorine water will also lead to dryness of hair.
e. A dry hair will be too fragile and will break off easily. It also will be hard and rigid and tend to have split ends, the result of which hair growth stops.
f. Wash a dry hair only once or twice a week.
g. Do not brush your wet hair with towel as friction causes more split ends, just let it dry naturally.
h. Take medical advises to protect and nourish your dry hair and avoid any styling tools that produces heat.
i. Your hair will look lifeless, so take intensive hair to make it look better. Avoid sun rays falling on wet hair.
4. Combination hair
a. The hair looks oily at the scalps and dry in the other parts.
b. As we have seen, combination hair means oily scalp and dryness for the rest of the hair. Try to use products specially designed for this type of hair. Another solution would be to use a shampoo for oily hair and apply a conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends.
