5 Tips to prepare your skin for make up

Before applying makeup

Makeup can make your skin look flawless and radiant. is a blessing for most women.Makeup can make you look fresh and hide any signs of exhaustion and fatigue. The application of makeup is what matters the most for a perfect look. Bad makeup will look as if you have painted your face haphazardly and powdered thoughtlessly. The primary step for a perfect makeup is to prepare your skin for wearing the makeup. Enlisted here are a few simple steps to prepare your skin for makeup.

1. Clean face

A clean and fresh face is apt for applying makeup. Before applying check if you already have any makeup on your skin. Wipe it out with a cleanser and cotton swab. Then wash your skin with a mild soap and water. Any dirt, grime or oils on the skin surface should be cleansed. Give the final rinse to your face with cool or cold water. This closes the pores and seals them preventing makeup particles from entering the skin pores.

2. Exfoliate your skin

If you haven’t exfoliated your skin in a while then do it after washing your face. Use a gentle scrub and chafe thoroughly around the nose and chin. You can also scrub your lips with a brush to remove the dead skin and make them look more pliant. Scrubbing is important to cast off the dead cells. If skin is flaky or has layers of dead skin on it then makeup applied will not even out.

3. Keep your skin hydrated

A well hydrated skin is easier to work on. On dry skin makeup looks cakey and will not spread out smooth. So tone your face immediately after washing it. Use a gentle toner that balances the sebum secretion on the skin surface. Oils can also affect the finish of the makeup applied. Just after toning the skin, apply a nourishing moisturizer. Don’t rub the moisturizer harshly over the face, just dab it on lightly with fingertips. After applying the moisturizer, leave it on your face for about 5 minutes. Don’t apply any makeup or work on your skin as yet. Give a few minutes for the moisturizer to get absorbed into the skin. After 5 minutes, just feel your skin lightly with the palm of your hands. It should not feel too dry or greasy. Your skin should look supple and hydrated.

4. Primer

For a flawless finish, primer is very essential. Apply a coat of primer after moisturizing your skin. It fills up small crannies and hides marks on the face. It can even mask fine lines. Also the primer seals the skin surface thus preventing the moisturizer or sebum on your face to interfere with working of makeup strokes. Just take a dime sized blob and pat it on your nose and the areas around it first before moving on to the other parts of your face. Now your skin tone will look even and is ready for makeup application. A primer that has silicone as the main ingredient should be preferred.

5. Eye contour

If you are concentrating on eye makeup then don’t forget the eye contour that will make color last longer on them. Make sure your eyebrows have been plucked out and shaped. Coat the eyelashes with olive or castor oil. Finish by applying a concealer around your eyes. Also, if your eyes tend to remain dry then before applying the concealer or eye contour, just dab some cream on them lightly.
