Does L- theanine helps to give a good sleep?

I am of 35 years and from last four days I am not able to sleep well and due to this I feel very irritated and weak all the day. Now it seems that eight hour luxury sleep has become a rare luxury for me. I don’t want to go to any doctor for this so I asked one of my friends about this so she told me to try L- theanine for the rescue. She told me to take 200 mg of L- theanine before bedtime. I really want to try this but before that I want to know has anyone ever tried this and does it has really helped them. Please help.
