Much was there to be seen on the ramps at this yearâs fashion spring season. While designers like Louis Vuitton concentrated more on the looks for the younger generations, giant designers like Prada showed off their expertise in cuts and stitches. Fashion big bosses like Chanel put forward some underwater themed dresses in lacy designs and soothing hues like light pink, slate blue, fade black and translucent white. But, to accompany these creative and fancy drapes, hair and makeup designers added a lot to enhance the looks of the models. Hair stylists at Guido and Givenchy opted to keep the locks simple yet feminine, while hair stylists at Herve Leger, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel tried their hands to create some memorable and unique ponytails and up-dos embellished with jeweled barrettes and knots.
Apart from the striking dresses and hair up-dos, some natural as well as vibrant shades of makeup were seen on the ramp this year. Fashion experts like Chanel and Ralph Lauren painted their models in natural and soothing hues like ivory, while some vibrant lip shades and daringly smoky eyes came forward at Rodarte, Miu Miu, and Gucci. The style statement that was offered by the creativity of fashion experts and makeup artists was a seamless combination of the old and new. The experts offered a fresh look by pairing up vintage styles like broad brows and catty eyes, and the modern looks like smoky eyes, glittery shadows, and vibrant lip colors.
1. Fatal catty eyes
Designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, Matthew Williamson, Ruffian, Badgley Mischka, and Marios Schwab turned their models into femme fatals. With their eyes painted in sharp and witty strokes, the models looked very feminine and scandalous. The liners were pulled off to the corners of the eyes, but this time they were presented in a much sexy and unique look. Some preferred to present their models dressed in single lined tapered flicks, while some others experimented with doubled lined bold catty looks. Keeping the rest aside, Richard Nicollâs models hit the ramp with square shaped eye line extenders, with no lining on the eyelids.
2. Rosy red lips
Luscious red colored lips were prominent on the ramp in the spring season of the fashion week this year. Models were seen adorning bright hues of red with various types of themed dresses. Makeup artists reincarnated the classic and daring red color and showed wide range of possibilities for wearing a dash of red. Red was definitely the prime color for this fashion weekâs spring season. Fashion designing brands like Temperley London, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Donna Karan, Jason Wu, Loewe, and Anna Sui incorporated this hot color to spice up their drapes.
3. Sun-kissed cheeks
Subtle yet sporty look was the theme for many fashion-designing brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Christopher Kane, Robert Mouret, Tracy Reese, DKNY, and Rag & Bone. While brands like Isabel Marant presented their models in natural lipstick hues and sun tanned cheeks, some preferred to present a subtle yet dramatic look by teaming up their glam dresses with peachy and hot coral shades. On the other hand, brands like DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger dressed up their models to showcase the imitated sun kissed look achieved by sports activities. However, whatever the combination and purpose the show had, it was definitely an eye candy to watch those models walk down the ramp in blissful sun tanned cheeks.
4. Broad brows
The fashion week this spring season witnessed some unusually broad and bold brows. It was like a remembrance of the 1960’s style icons. The arches were purposefully thickened to serve the designerâs purpose. Some of the finest examples of broad brows were seen at Jil Sanderâs, Burberry Prorsum, Derek lam and Altuzarra where the brows were either stained to make them appear thicker or were brushed-up to give a rugged look.
5. Futuristic sparkling eyes
While some classic looks like broad brows and hot red lip colors were incorporated into the makeup themes, some futuristic glittery make-ups also made their appearance on the runway. Makeup artists of brands like Dsquared, United Bamboo, and Fendi surrealistically stylized the eyes with sparkling and glittering makeup. The unique eye makeup definitely helped the brands stand out from others and breathe in air that is definitely not meant for all.
6. Silvery eyes
Bright ivory and silvery hues adorned the eyelids of the models this season. While brands like Ralph Lauren and Chanel incorporated the lid mask to make it appear original, some brands like Phillip Lim decided to keep it bold and dramatic. The dreamy and calm eye makeup was teamed up with lacy dresses to create the ultimate style statement. These brands parted their ways with smoky eyes to create equally dramatic and powerful eyes with the shades of white, silver, and ivory. And they were definitely successful in their initiatives.
7. Rebellious smoky eyes
Smoky eyes need no introduction. They have definitely become the fashion statement of the modern youth. Characterized by immensely smudged dark eyes, the look has become the symbol of the bold and the beautiful. And fashion statement makers like Gucci, Dsqaured, Erin Featherstone, Rodarte and Ungaro did not abstain themselves from the glam of the smoky look, although their purpose and style of presentation was definitely different from each other. Some framed the eyes with deep and dark borders of black, while some painted the eyes with wild strokes of charcoal black.
8. Girly lashes
What could be more feminine than long and curled up lashes? The makeup artists re-utilized the classic usage of false lashes to enhance girl beauty. Thick, curled up and straight lashes made a glamorous entry onto the ramp, while brightly colored and bold lashes of Victor & Rolf paid their tribute to the inevitable punk style.
9. Colors of spring
Spring is the season of a new beginning and vibrant colors. It marks the starting of a new year, and makeup artists of the spring fest were inevitably successful in their efforts of creating some new and unique, vibrant yet subtle hues. Orange, red, turquoise, and baby pink dazzled the eyelids and the runway as well.
