Basic tricks to make your round face look fabulous

round face

If you have a full round face, you would have wished at one time or other, to add some length and minimize the roundness of your face. Here we share a few makeup tricks and tips to make your face appear longish.

A round face is one with large curved forehead and a rounded chin. The full face has few angels. Cheekbones are wider than brow bone and jaw line. The main object of makeup is to counter the roundness of the face and give it an elongated look to counter the lack of dominant features.

Let us take a look at some makeup tips to accentuate the features, get an amazing finish and make your round face look longer to highlight your beauty.

1. Concealer

Begin by applying concealer to smoothen out the skin tone. This makeup base plays an important role in highlighting your best features as well as to mask and hide any imperfections.

2. Foundation

Get two shades of foundation. One, matching your skin tone and the other just a shade darker. Apply the darker foundation in the fullness of your temples, hollow of your cheeks and in the fullness of your jaw line. Apply the lighter shade onto the central areas of your face, under the eyes, chin and forehead. On the center of the nose apply lighter and on the sides , the darker shade. Blend the two shades well so that no distinction between the two remains. Apply a translucent powder to lightly cover your face. Work it outwards and upwards so that the makeup is set and your skin tone is evened out.

3. The final touch

Apply a contour powder on your temples with a makeup brush. Blend it down to the fullness of the jaw keeping the chin clear. To make your face look slimmer visually, the blush is to be applied on the cheekbones rather than on the apple of your cheeks. Apply blush starting from under the cheekbones, up to the temples. Take care not to go lower than the virtual line at the bottom of your nose and no further than the outer corner of your eye. It will surprise you to see how this blending of light and dark shades make your face appear longer.

4. The eyes

Arched and angled eyebrows counterbalance the roundness of your face. Apply a lighter eyeshadow from the brow line to the eye lid and a darker eyeshadow above the crease of the eye. This will make it look higher. To give an elongated look, extend the eyeshadow a little past the end of your eyelashes in an outward stroke. Use darker shades of eyeshadow rather than the lighter.

On the upper lid, apply the eyeliner starting from the inner corner towards the outer and sweep the line up just a tad and give the ‘cat eye’ look. On the lower lid, start from the middle of the eye to the outer corner. Apply Mascara to your eyelashes . Emphasize the angles of your eyes with various highlighting tricks such as applying volume boosting mascara to the lashes on the outer corner of the eye to give it a winged look.

5. Lips

Apply lip liner and lipstick to finish off the makeup. Dark colors will make your lips look luscious and help to balance the roundness of your face. A drop of lip gloss on the middle of your lips will boost the glam effect.

6. Hairstyles

Now make a perfect hairstyle to look good with your perfect makeup. An appropriate hairstyle creates the impression of a perfectly proportioned face. Just keep in mind that the perfect hairstyle for a round face is the one which minimizes the width of the face and makes it look oval.
