Rachel Zoe has been a styling icon for many. The 40-year-old designer has worked for the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Backstreet Boys and Kiera Knightley in the past and has collaborated with the famous accessory maker, Judith Leiber. Last time we saw her having her signature bohemian tousled curls. Rachel recently came to the Zoe Media Group launch party in Hollywood with a double braided ponytail, which did create a stir at the party. She seemed to have amalgamated the braids and ponytails in a way that looks stylish as well as different. In case you are getting inquisitive about how to get the same hairstyle, we will help you out by demonstrating stepwise how to create it.
DIY Rachel Zoeâs look
1. To start with you’ll need a good wave/curl enhancing hair product. Wash you hair and apply the product on your damp hair. Finger-dry your hair by running your fingers from roots to the ends. Lift them at the crown and use fingertips to flatten them at the sides. Doing this with a hairdryer along with a curling tong would produce more effective results. Finger-drying helps in creating waves and give them the natural curls.
2. The next step is to deep part your hair to one side. To do so apply a smoothing balm and comb from roots to tips you towel-dried hair. Use the dryer and a round brush and part your hair on one side. Run your hair into a low ponytail on the other side. Apply some wax on your hair and run it along your pony to get a more flaunting effect.
3. Next step is getting the French-braid done. This part of the hairstyle is little complicated but if you have practice with French-braids it is not that difficult. French braiding is similar to normal braiding except you have to keep adding as you go along braiding to the pony tail. Tilt you head to one side and grab a section at the hairline. Start with the smaller side of the part and follow it along the curve of the head. Tug gently on the hair and each time left side crosses over add a new section of hair to the bread. Split the section into three and start breading as usual. Keep your hands close to the crest and nor farther from the point from where you’re drawing your hair. This prevents your braid from pulling out. Add a piece of hair from the top and continue breading.
Add five to seven sections in a similar way and bread normally once you’re past your ears. Create similar breads on the other side of the hair and end them in the side ponytail. To get the exact Rachel Zoe boho braids, you need to keep them loose and romantic. Secure your braids on the both sided with an elastic.
4. Once you’re finished with the both sides join the two with an elastic and wrap the two with another section of hair around the base. You can use a hairspray in the end so that your hair hold up your braids.
The style can be worn in the case of long as well as short hair. It looks cool whether it ends with a cascading pony or a bun and gives the perfect holiday party look. It looks simple and not overdone. Side braids certainly look popular among the stars these days with stars like Nicole Kidman and Lauren Conrad being spotted with a one. French braid can be worn by people of all age groups and are regarded as ageless.
