3 Tips to remove waterproof mascara

Waterproof mascara

Mascara is that amazing ‘tube and wand’ that will assure you the long and lush eyelashes like those of a demi-goddess. Waterproof mascara can ensure good looking eyes even when you sweat it out in gym. But removing waterproof mascara can’t be done with ordinary washing off with water. Here are a few tips to wash off waterproof mascara.

1. Mascara removers

You can invest in a good quality mascara remover which will effectively and quickly remove any traces of mascara from your lashes. This is considered as the preferred method. It is important that we remove our makeup before going to bed and this product will make the removing part a breeze. Renowned brands offering mascara removers are Lancome, Chanel, L’Oreal, etc. If you have sensitive eyes, get yourself a mascara remover that is marked ‘hypo allergic’ to minimize the chances for irritations/allergies. Investing in a mascara remover will be indeed worthwhile if you are a regular mascara user. With a soft cotton ball, dab a little mascara remover gently on your lashes. This should remove the mascara. Then, splash your face with water and apply an eye cream of your choice.

2. Petroleum jelly or baby oil

It is also possible to remove waterproof mascara with ordinary petroleum jelly or even with baby oil. Take a little baby oil or petroleum jelly on a small cotton ball and softly dab it all over your lashes. Don’t forget to close your eyes. After a few seconds, wipe off the jelly or oil in soft outward strokes. This will transfer all the mascara into the cotton ball. Cleanse your face. Apply some cleanser over your eye lashes too (over closed eyes). Wash off.

3. Olive oil

An alternative method for mascara removal is with olive oil. Some experts do not recommend removing waterproof mascara with baby oil as it has got some amount of petroleum in it, which could hamper your eyes if it gets in. Olive oil is a great natural remedy. For removal with olive oil, first wash your eyelashes with water a few times. Saturate a small cotton ball with olive oil. Close your eyes and apply it over your eyelashes. Take a clean cotton ball and wipe off in gentle outward strokes. Cleanse your face and wash off.
