However, all commercial products and other treatments come with side effects because they are all laden with harmful chemicals.
Trying some home remedies can bring out positive results. They are effective in minimizing fine lines by smoothing out wrinkles and skin tightening. Most of them are simple to make and are also not much time-consuming and ingredients are available readily in your kitchen. Here are a few home remedies to get you started with skin care regime.
1. Useful remedies for instant relief
Just like you feel tired after a long day’s work, your eyes are tired too. As a result of constant trauma, sooner or later, you will start noticing problems like fine lines, puffy eyes, dark circles etc. Try these simple home remedies for that instant rejuvenation of eyes and under eye skin area. For tired looking or puffy eyes, place a slice of freshly cut cucumber over both closed eyelids and relax for 5-10 minutes. Remove them and wash your face with cold water. You are guaranteed to feel refreshed and your eyes looking much fresh and younger. You could even place used teabags over your eyelids in the same way and they are known to have the same effect.
Always keep a couple of metal spoons in the freezer. For tired or puffy eyes, place these metal spoons over the eyelids for a couple of minutes. This instantly rejuvenates your eyes by increasing the blood supply. Paste obtained from grated potatoes is great for dark circles. Use these simple techniques daily so that your eyes and the skin get the needed care regularly.
2. Rose Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil
As per research studies, it has been found that a mixture of rose essential oil and jojoba oil is a potent natural topical skin lotion and can be effectively used for skin tightening resulting in much younger and healthier looking skin overtime.
To make this skin lotion, mix one teaspoon of rose essential oil with about 8 teaspoons of jojoba oil in a small bowl. Give it a nice stir and apply by gently dabbing onto the skin under the eye using some clean and soft cotton ball. Be careful that the mixture does not get into your eyes and also do not use force. Leave it on for half an hour and then rinse away using cool water and pat gently with a clean towel. You may then apply some rose water under the eye and just leave it on. The unused portion of the mixture can be safely stored in a cool place for even a months time.
Rose essential oil has many therapeutic properties. It has a calming effect on mind and is a natural sedative. Also known to balance emotions, this essential oil is a wonderful tonic and anti-septic for the skin. It is suitable for all skin types.
3. Raw Honey, Heavy Cream and Lime Juice
Studies say that some raw honey mixed with fresh lime juice and cream has proved to be an effective topical application for skin. Regular application of this concoction results in tightened and younger looking skin around the eyes.
To make this mixture, combine together 1 teaspoon of raw honey, half a teaspoon of fresh lime juice and 2 teaspoons of full cream in a small bowl. Give the mixture a nice stir and gently massage ample amount of this mix around the eye area. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and keep your eyes closed during that time, lest some portion gets into your eyes. Rinse away with lukewarm water. You may even use a mild cleanser if you feel sticky around that area even after washing. This mix can be used daily and unused portions can be stored just for a couple of days.
All these three ingredients are great for skin. Honey and cream nourish and moisturize your skin deeply while lime juice being rich in vitamin C helps to enhance the condition of your skin.
